As we bring the year 2016 to a close and are thinking about the resolutions, we want to make for 2017 let’s not forget to be thankful for all the people in our lives past and present. No one knows who will be in our future. Most people have some family connection. It might be a group of friends who have become your family when yours is gone, or far away. I’m thankful for all the people in my life I call my family. Some are close to me, others not so close, but everyone has touched my life in one way or the other and molded the person I am today.
In browsing the Discover area of WordPress.com I came upon Transcribingmemory.com.
I posted from this blog – the previous post – because it reminds me of the many letters and documents belonging to those I love who are no longer living. I had never seen anyone post snippets of a family member’s memories before, and I immediately found myself immersed in her Babu’s posts. I love this idea!
Each year I promise myself I will compile these notes and letters and papers into a book to pass down to my family. I have not.
It is timely I came across her site today as a reminder of my family who meant so much to me in the past, and how much my current family means to me today even when I cannot be with them.
I’ll be digging out my boxes of memorabilia in the new year and adding time slots to my calendar to make sure this task is done! I think family is so important, no matter how tumultuous the circumstances. Despite the inherent differences, find time to love your family in the best way you know how.
As my dad used to say when he was living, “Love your family while you can, they won’t always be here.”
